Who They Are
MedicareCU is an independent insurance agency dedicated to providing credit union members with education, as well as Medicare and private health insurance products and services.
What They Do
MedicareCU is here to help guide you through your Medicare journey. As a valued account holder of Members First Credit Union, you have access to a complimentary, no-obligation consultation with a licensed insurance agent specializing in Medicare plans. Their goal is to ensure you understand all your Medicare options and how to make the most of them. During your meeting with a Medicare insurance agent, you'll cover topics like:
Are your medications covered?
Can you continue to see your current physicians?
What are your monthly premiums?
What is your cost share for healthcare services?
What is a Medicare Advantage and how do they work?
What is a Medicare Supplement and how do they work?
What is a Medicare Prescription Drug plan and how to they work?
Private Health Insurance
To qualify for insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, individuals must typically meet certain criteria. Firstly, you must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully present immigrant. Second, your income should fall within a specified range; eligibility is often determined by your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI). The ACA offers subsidies to individuals and families with income levels between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level, which may help lower premium costs.
Additionally, open enrollment periods are designated for selecting ACA plans, but you may also enroll during special enrollment periods if you experience certain life changes, such as getting married or losing other coverage. It's important to check your state's marketplace for specific details, as some states have expanded Medicaid coverage and may have slightly different eligibility requirements.
